Anuradha Sharma, the founder trustee of Surya Uday Charitable Trust (School Cum Pre-Vocational Centre for Special Needs Children) and is from Dharamshala. She was born in Joginder nagar on March 22, 1979 . Her Father was in Indian Army and Mother was home maker. Her early education was at her hometown Joginder nagar and got married at early age of 20 and shifted to Dharamshala. Her husband is in Army ( Signals Core) and at Present serving in Udhampur .She started her journey in Special field of disabilities as a Community Based worker in 2002. As she started going home to home during field survey an incident which changed her life. During visit of one student with multiple disability ( bed ridden profound category) who was in such a pathetic condition that she got angry on his father and he said to her if you are so much concerned about him then why don’t u do something for them.
Thus she made her mission to work for Special Children and make a difference in their lives. She opened up a Special School in 2004 at Mahila Mandal with the help of Red Cross Society. As she was working her seniors advised her to do Special Educators course so she went to Prem Ashram ( Una- H.P) in 2006 to pursue D.ed in Special Education for Mental Retardation and completed her course in 2008. Meanwhile she was also selected as Special Olympics Trainee Coach in 2007. In 2008 when she came back in Dharamshala the school which she had opened at Mahila Mandal, Dari was closed. At that time she happened to know about Harmony through education which was about to open at Dharamshala . She joined it as Asst. Head teacher and in 2010 became head teacher.
In year 2013 it was a proud moment for her for two reasons first of all the Student whom she had trained Ms. Dimple was selected for floor hockey in Winter Games Special Olympics held at South Korea and also brought gold and second being She was Selected as National Coach for the same event. After this there was a total turnaround in the life of Dimple people started looking at her with deep respect and showered love and affection and this changed the behavior of parents of Special children. They started bringing their children out of their homes. She was fortunate once again to represent Special Olympics Winter Games 2017 as national Coach floor Hockey held at Austria. She along with her took two students from Kangra and they also got medals.
She worked in Harmony through Education till Jan 2017 . Over a period of time she realized there is lot of things to be done for Special Needs Children as in, no one is taking care of Special Needs Children above 18 years of age. To contribute and to bring change and smiles on Special Needs Children of all age again she started Surya Uday Special Needs School along with Mr Sachin Sharma. The School was inaugurated on June 12, 2017 and we are not only providing the Special Education but also vocational courses for all ages. At present Surya Uday Special School have 73 registrations and 50 students have been coming regularly. The youngest age of our Child is 6 while the eldest is 50.
