Surya Uday Charitable Trust empowers children with special needs through education, vocational training, and world-class competitive sports in the heart of the Himalayas.
In 2016, Mrs. Anuradha Sharma Chhetri and Mr. Sachin Sharma surveyed Kangra district in partnership with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. What they found was undeniable — nearly 4,000 children with special needs were out of school due to neglect, poverty, and lack of access.
Starting with 9 students and 7 staff in Yol Cantt, Dharamshala, the Trust now serves 57 enrolled students, runs a Special Olympics Sports Centre with 110 athletes, and still has 233 children waiting. The work is not finished — but the difference is already real.
